East Asia Minerals Completes EC1 Drilling Program And Begins Drilling EC2

VANCOUVER, B.C. --February 28, 2006-- East Asia Minerals Corporation (TSXV-EAS) today announced it has completed a 28 hole resource definition drilling program on its EC1 copper oxide deposit at the Khok Adar Project in Mongolia. Drilling is now focused on the EC2 copper oxide target where KA-05-01 intersected 13.7 metres of 2.77% copper and 90.47 grams per tonne (gpt) silver during last year's drilling.

A total of 2849.0 metres of drilling in 28 drill holes have been completed in the recent EC1 drill program. This work will allow for a resource calculation of the deposit. Results from the first 9 holes were announced on February 7 and other assays will be reported as they become available and verified. Drill hole locations and intercepts can be found at www.eastasiaminerals.com.

The EC2 target is located approximately 700 meters east-southeast of the EC1 deposit along the Zone 1 shear zone, the same structure that in part localizes the EC1 mineralization. KA-05-01 (13.7m of 2.77% Cu and 90.47 gpt Ag) and KA-05-02 (9m of 0.73% Cu and 10.33 gpt Ag) (previously reported) were drilled to test surface copper oxide mineralization. Mineralization at EC2, similar to that at EC1, occurs as malachite and azurite in brecciated and silicified quartzites. EAS geologists have recently identified additional copper oxide mineralization along fracture planes at surface to the west of EC2. The current drilling will test the extension of the previously drill intercepted mineralization as well as the newly identified surface mineralization.

"To date we have focused our drilling on the high grade copper occurrences within an alteration/mineralization zone that extends over a strike of 2 kilometres from EC1 to East Zone 1" commented Michael Hawkins, East Asia's Vice President of Exploration. "The current drilling at EC2 will further evaluate the dimension and continuity of this high grade mineralization Ultimately we will need to assess the potential for broader zones of lower grade copper mineralization surrounding and possibly connecting these high grade copper occurrences."

Samples reported were assayed at Alex Stewart Laboratories in Kyrgyzstan. Check samples are assayed at McPhar Labs in Manila, Philippines. East Asia Minerals conducts a rigorous and continuous QA/QC program, which is detailed at www.EastAsiaMinerals.com. Mike Hawkins, M.Sc., MAusIMM, the designated QP within the meaning of 43-101, has reviewed and approves the content of this release.
