East Asia Minearals Intersects 24 metres of 0.82% copper at Khok Adar

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Tuesday, October 24, 2006 - East Asia Minerals Corporation (TSXV-EAS) reports assay results, including 24 metres of 0.82% copper and 18.25 grams silver in BBRC001, from the recently completed reconnaissance RC drilling on the Baruun Bayan prospect at its advanced Khok Adar copper oxide project in western Mongolia.

Twelve holes, totalling 1713 metres of RC drilling were completed during August and September to explore the recently discovered Baruun Bayan copper anomaly (news release of July 17, 2006) located 600 metres northwest of the EC1 copper oxide deposit within a four kilometre long copper-zinc anomalous zone. Result highlights are listed in the table below. More complete assay results and drill hole locations are located at www.EAminerals.com.

The Baruun Bayan copper anomaly was identified during East Asia Mineral's 2006 aircore sampling program conducted over six kilometres of an east-southeast trending altered structural corridor that encompasses eight zones of copper oxide mineralization. The aircore program consisted of 578 grid outcrop, subcrop and covered bedrock sample points of which 431 were sampled with the aircore drill. The shallow aircore holes, most less than 10 metres in length, drilled through alluvial cover to retrieve a bedrock geochemical sample. Assay results were contoured and identified copper and zinc anomalous zones. In addition to outlining areas of copper and zinc anomalism beneath shallow cover, the aircore program gave compelling vectors to the location of the secondary enrichment zone which spawned the EC-1 copper zone. The secondary enrichment zone target remains untested. A detailed map of the aircore program results is located at www.EAminerals.com.

Drilling at Khok Adar has been completed for 2006. The new Baruun Bayan discovery remains open for further testing and follow-up to the promising copper oxide drill intersections. Detailed data review and mapping are underway to refine the next stage of drilling. Regional property mapping and data compilation are continuing to develop other drill targets on this prolific property.

The Company also announces it is receiving keen interest in its Mongolian uranium portfolio. Since announcing in September, 2006 that the uranium properties will be vended or optioned, nine senior, junior and private companies have expressed an interest.

Thirdly, EAS reports that it is in the final stages of securing the promising advanced gold and gold-copper projects in Indonesia as first announced in May 2006. Once the final title and permitting details are completed the Company intends to aggressively advance the projects to diamond drill stage.

Samples reported were assayed at SGS Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. East Asia Minerals conducts a rigorous and continuous QA/QC program, which is detailed at www.EAminerals.com.
