East Asia Minerals Continues To Expand The EC1 Copper Oxide Deposit With Additional Drill Results

VANCOUVER, B.C.-- April 13, 2006--East Asia Minerals Corporation (TSXV-EAS) today announced additional new results from EC1 definition drilling at its Khok Adar project in western Mongolia. Results from holes EC1-16 to 25 and EC1-29 to 30 continue to extend the limits of the EC1 high grade copper oxide mineralization. Mineralization remains open to the north and to the east. Highlights of the reported assays are detailed below and a drill location map is posted at www.eastasiaminerals.com

These results indicate the potential for discovery of significant additional tonnages to the immediate north and east of the previously delineated mineralization. Holes EC1-29 to 32 (results from 31 and 32 are pending) were designed to follow up native copper mineralization observed in drilling located east of the fault which was originally thought to have truncated the EC1 mineralization. Intercepts from EC1-30 (9.0m of 2.14% Cu and 14.2g/t Ag) and EC1-29 (8.0m of 1.0% Cu and 10.0g/t Ag) confirm that significant mineralization extends across the fault. Results from holes EC1-18 (9.8m of 0.87% Cu and 8.7g/t Ag) and EC1-19 (11.0m of 2.05% Cu and 7.18g/t Ag) extend the known EC1 deposit to the north where the system also remains open. Additional drilling is currently underway on the east side of EC1 and is planned for the north side.

Significant zinc was also noted in several holes. EC1-17 contained 33.3m of 1.32% Zn from 80.7 to 114.0m, and EC1-29 contained 31.0m of 1.56% Zn from 77.0 to 108.0m plus 13.0m of 1.13% Zn from 120.0 to 133.0m. Highly anomalous zinc has also been identified at the East Zone 1 target located 2 km east of EC1 (see December 2, 2005 news release). These zinc values appear to be peripherally related to the high grade copper values, suggestive of broad scale metal zonation commonly associated with large mineralizing systems.

After an initial review of the data, a consulting geochemist confirms that these results have the hallmarks of mineralized fluids migrating from a much larger primary mineralized system and depositing copper and zinc at outlying sites such as EC1 and EC2.

"East Asia is encouraged that drilling at Khok Adar continues to increase the known size of the EC1 high grade copper oxide deposit" remarked Mike Hawkins, East Asia's Vice President of Exploration. "It is also exciting that as more information is added to the database, vectors to a potentially large primary source for the exotic mineralization are becoming more apparent."

EAS also reports that drilling at its Deren epithermal gold prospect continues to intersect multiple breccia veins with classic epithermal textures. Assays from this drilling are pending.

Samples reported were assayed at Alex Stewart Laboratories in Kyrgyzstan, and SGS Mongolia LLC in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Check samples are assayed at McPhar Labs in Manila, Philippines. East Asia Minerals conducts a rigorous and continuous QA/QC program, which is detailed at www.EastAsiaMinerals.com. Mike Hawkins, M.Sc., MAusIMM, the designated QP within the meaning of 43-101, has reviewed and approves the content of this release.
