East Asia Minerals Identifies Deren Targest And Resumes Khok Adar Drilling

VANCOUVER, B.C. -- January 9 -- East Asia Minerals Corporation (TSXV-EAS) has identified drill targets at its Deren gold project, resumed drilling at the Khok Adar copper project and is pursuing additional energy projects in Mongolia.

Mapping and analysis of 1000 soil and rock chip samples have identified 5 drill targets on the Company's Deren gold project. Deren was identified as a high level, low sulphidation gold target. This interpretation has been supported by the identification of epithermal quartz veining and alteration over 6 km of strike during field mapping. "This is an exciting exploration opportunity and these targets will be drill tested as soon as a drill becomes available" stated Lyndon Bradish, President of East Asia Minerals. "We eagerly await the opportunity to test for a potential intact high grade gold deposit."

Drilling resumed January 7th, 2006 at the Khok Adar copper project after the planned Holiday break which began December 20th, 2005. Nine holes of a planned 43 hole drill program were completed by the end of 2005. Assay results from those holes are pending. This drill program is designed to delineate the identified high grade copper oxide zones, EC-1 and EC-2. Highlights from previous drilling on EC-1 and EC-2 include: 56m @ 7.4% Cu from KA-05-05 and 81.1m @ 4.58% Cu from KA-05-06 at EC-1 and 13m @ 2.14% Cu from KA-05-01 in EC-2. Additional copper targets identified during last season's field program will also be drill tested.

East Asia Minerals continues to evaluate its energy portfolio and has completed initial investigation of its four optioned uranium properties. As previously announced, wholly owned EAM Energy XXK (Mongolia) has been formed and all energy related projects and tenements are being transferred into this energy company. Negotiations are currently underway on several additional, key coal and uranium projects. The Board will make a decision on the spin out of the energy company pending completion of the annual accounting audit and recommendations from the Company's tax advisors on this matter.
