East Asia Minerals Forges Path Into China

VANCOUVER, B.C. -- January 16 -- East Asia Minerals Corporation (TSXV-EAS) advances its China strategy to acquire quality gold projects and build strategic partnerships.

The Company announces it has hired Dr. Frank Feng to manage exploration activities in China. Dr. Feng has 23 years of exploration experience in China and has considerable expertise with Chinese gold deposits. He has already introduced the Company to a number of promising project possibilities, some of which are currently under negotiation. Prior to joining East Asia Minerals Dr. Feng was Project Manager in China with Goldfields.

"Dr. Feng's extensive professional network and Geological Institute associations will greatly assist East Asia Minerals to acquire and explore quality Chinese projects" stated Lyndon Bradish, President and CEO of East Asia' Minerals. "His addition to our management team in conjunction with the recent addition of Ms. Mei Yao to our Board of Directors, positions East Asia to better focus on China's mineral potential."

As previously announced in December, 2005, the appointment of Ms. Mei Yao to East Asia's Board of Directors provides another key component to the Company's China strategy. Ms. Yao is responsible for China projects for her firm, The Sentient Group, which is an international private equity resource investment firm. East Asia Minerals views Ms. Yao as an extremely valuable addition to the Board and is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with her firm, through its Sydney office, in developing new business opportunities in East Asia
